Spring Dinner/Dance at the Omni: May 7th
and
Clinic Day at the UIC Hospital: May 8th

Members and guests enjoy dinner while Mitch and CK conduct business. There was daylight at the time allowing us to enjoy the outside scene through the windows.

This year the Spring Dinner Dance was held on May 7th at the Omni Hotel, Chicago. President Mitch Byrne's special "Millennium Meeting" was very well attended. The cocktails started at 6:00 PM for the 149 members and guests. Past-presidents and new members were in attendance. Everyone seemed to be in such a good mood meeting old friends and making new ones.

The dinner was served at 7:00 PM. It was tasteful and served well by the Omni staff. Of the thirty two new members, 18 attended the party and received their colorful certificates (plaques). Of the 25 Past Presidents still with us, 18 attended the meeting and were awarded a walnut gavel and base with their names and years of their presidency engraved. Picture the event - there were some of your professors, father and son combinations, and I am certain many of them you would have remembered fondly if you had been there.

2000 Spring clinic day was held at the University Illinois at Chicago Hospital, Chicago on Monday, the 8th of May. Six operations were performed with the usual spirited discussion. You had to be there to enjoy Dr.Abcarian's quips during the operation he performed. There were two high tech operating suites with a camera mounted on the light that facilitated viewing the operation possible for even those that are not acrobatic. This high tech facility allows remote viewing and audio interaction with the surgeon. It can also be netcast! The Scientific session was very interesting. It was moderated by Scott Helton, M.D. This year's Honorary guest lecturer was Dr.Bernard Jaffe. He gave an up-to-date review of the assessment, diagnosis, and management of carcinoid tumors. His lecture was informative and one of the best we have had in recent years. From a secretary's perspective every thing seemed to go well. What a relief!
