Thursday, September 19 4:30 PM- 6:30 PM- Welcome Reception. Dr. Uretz Oliphant, Mrs Mercedita Oliphant and Barbara Huffman welcomed us at the Holiday Inn. After casual gathering, people gravitated into smaller groups and went out to dinner. Friday, September 20 9:30 AM- Several ladies joined Mrs. Oliphant for an easy day of sightseeing and shopping. And return they did with a few extra items in tow. Friday, September 20 5:15 PM Reception and Western Style Banquet. We rode the bus to Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch. There were six stations to identify in the 6-acre cornfield maze, they had surgical shoe covers. The barbecue supper was good. The band played the blues, country and rock. Dr. Norman Estes of Peoria sang a song with the band. ISS has some talent. A new ISS treadition is to singing during bus ride back to the hotel. Saturday, September 21. Illini Football Game. The tailgate party before the game was in a private tent set up adjacent to the stadium. Buses shuttled attendees between the hotel and the stadium. It was a good Hibachi grilled meal. Too bad the Illini lost. Saturday, September 21 - 6:30 PM: President’s Dinner. Holiday Inn ballroom. Cocktails and dinner were served followed by dancing to the sounds of The New Orleans Jazz Machine (they sure were one of the best dance bands). It was a grand evening. We dodged the Saints team who also dined at the Holiday Inn. Norman Estes sang another song, and sang it well. He seems to know a great variety of songs.
